2012 PGA Tour Preview – Will Europe rule once more?

While American golf is enjoying the rise of several new stars, it is the European players who will be looking to dominate once more in 2012.

This year saw Luke Donald emerge as the world number one golfer and make history by becoming the only player to win both the European Tour and PGA Tour Order of Merit.

Englishman Donald entered 19 events during the 2011 season featuring victories at the World Golf Championships-Accenture Match Play Championship and the Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals Classic.

With Donald’s short game and determination it looks like we can expect him to pick up some major silverware in 2012.

World number two Rory McIlroy had a decent year too, despite having one of the worst all-time collapses on the back nine during the final round of the 2011 Masters.

After his Masters meltdown many questioned the temperament of McIlroy. He responded in a fantastic way as he produced a master-class to win the next major, the US Open at Congressional.

At 22 years old he has established himself as a credible challenger to Tiger Woods. He will join the PGA Tour next year and should be a factor in the majors in 2012.
