Friday 1st June 2007, Karen Bonehill
Karen is a housewife from Cheltenham. She has been married to Stuart for 6 years and they have one son, William aged 6. At the beginning of her game Karen told Neol that if she won the jackpot she would take Noel to LasVegas! Her dream however, is to travel into space at an estimated cost of £120,000. Lets see if her dream had the potential to come true…

Karen started her first round well, eliminating four blues and one red – 50p, 1p, £750, £10 and £20,000. The Banker’s first offer was £9,000, a special space related offer of an astro-nine and three astro-naughts! It wasn’t tempting for Karen who went with NO DEAL. Round 2 began with box 15 opened by Pippa containing £50. Next came box 12 opened by Frazer containing £15,000. The final box was 1 opened by Dave containing £100,000. The Bankers second offer came in at £13,000. Still not enough to get her galactic though so Karen chose NO DEAL again.

In round three, Karen’s space dreams shattered: Out came £3,000, £1 and then £250,000. No Vegas for her and Noel either! The Banker’s offer dropped to £7,500. Still hoping for more, Karen stuck with NO DEAL. Round four was inconsequential as Karen revealed £5,000, £5 and £75,000. The resulting offer was unchanged at £7,500 and Karen hadn’t changed her mind since last time, NO DEAL. In round 5, Karen managed to stamp out another two nasty blues, £250 and £500. Unfortunately though, the penultimate member of the power 5, £50,000, was sandwiched between these two, which provoked a drop in the Banker’s offer to £5,000. Undefeated, Karen made the call to stumble on – NO DEAL.

In round 6, things went from bad to worse as the first one out was £35,000, the last of the power five. Thankfully, next came box 5 opened by Penny containing £100 and then box 9 opened by Rodney containing 10p. Still the Banker’s offer fell, this time to £4,500. Holding out to the bitter end, Karen chose NO DEAL for the last time. She did however jump at the chance to swap and get her mitts on her lucky number 7 box. However, I don’t think 7 will be her lucky number any more as it contained just £1,000 and her old box, 21, contained £10,000.

Monday 4th June 2007, Jamie Hughes.
Giant Jamie is a village shop owner from Newcastle. His lucky number is 3 and he demonstrated this at the pound table by bringing a piece of ‘3’ shaped wire that he had found on (and pulled off!) the Deal or No Deal set. His first round started well with 10p and £5 going from the board. The amounts continued to disappear in ascending order though – out came £3,000, then £10,000 and finally, as is the case in so many final choices in a round, the big £250,000. The smug Banker offered £3,333. Jamie decided to NO DEAL.

Round 2 was a little more positive as Jamie chose box 6 opened by Pauline containing 50p. Next came box 8 opened by Dave containing £20,000. The final box was 5 opened by Steve containing £75,000 – Another sting in the tail and another power five amount disappeared from Jamie’s grasp. Despite this big loss, the Banker doubled his offer to £6,666 and with the greatest of respect, Jamie declined – NO DEAL.

Round three began badly with another power 5 amount ensuing the last, this time £35,000. After this came £50 and would the dreaded sting in the tail be present in this round? Thankfully not as box 16 was opened to reveal £1. The cycle had been broken. The Banker rang in with an offer of £9,999 and after a conclusive sweep of the East and West wing, Jamie concurred and went for NO DEAL. Round four looked good as the first to go was £100, then came another big blow as £50,000 came out. This was followed finally by another blue £500. Again, not terrible but Jamie couldn’t quite find the all blue round that he wanted. The Banker called in with a repeated offer of £9,999. This put Jamie in quite a pickle. To help with his choice, Eric handed over a £1 to Jamie to make the package a full £10,000. This was enough to tempt Jamie into a DEAL!

Noel had already labeled Jamie’s go at the pound table, a one box game but would the one box hold out to the end? It certainly looked that way as £250, £5,000 and £15,000 were eliminated in the next round…The £100k was still hanging in there. The Banker’s fifth offer would have been just £10,000. So overall could be seen as a victory for Jamie so far. Thankfully, that victory was maintained as £100,000 was out next followed by £750 and £10. The Banker’s measly offer would have been £333. It turned out that Jamie’s lucky 3, opened by Sam, contained just 1p! A solid game for Jamie.

Monday 11th June, Rodney Lyons,
Rodney, an M.D of a classic car business, says he owes his life to his two dogs who walk him everyday and this walking helped him recover from a triple heart bypass in 1996. Rodney had a laid back approach to his game and decided to take each box as it came. This approach worked reasonably well in his first round as he knocked out £5,000, £10,000, £3,000, 10p and £10. The Banker’s first offer was one of the highest they’d seen in a long time at £15,000. However, NO DEAL from Rodney. Round 2 was a dream come true as three blue’s, £50, £1 and £100 disintegrated from the board. The Banker was in for a tough game; the offer came in at £25,000 and Rodney, although appreciative of the Banker’s generosity opted for a second time, NO DEAL.

Round 3 saw Rodney’s luck continue, at least for the first two boxes which were £1,000 £250. At the edge of the hall of fame, the final box was the reliable sting in the tail at £100,000. The block of 7 had been intercepted. The Banker rang in and offered the same as before at £25,000. Not good enough for Rodney – he was immediately ready for the question and as he uttered his answer the Banker rang in again, offering £27,500. Rodney was still adamant to play on so to avoid another impromptu phone call, Noel went to take the phone off the hook but not quickly enough! As his hand touched the receiver, the Banker called again with £30,000 for an astounded Rodney. Once he’d swept his shock aside, he uttered once more, NO DEAL.

Round 4 once again began beautifully with box 4 opened by Mac containing 50p. This was followed by a blow as box 2 opened by Jackee contained £75,000 The final box, 8 was opened by Sam and contained another blue, £500. The red side of the board, although fragmented was stills strong and on this notion, the Banker offered £35,000. After a tense delay, Rodney boldly battled on with NO DEAL. No game seems complete without an all red round and this is exactly what Rodney got next. However as far as red rounds go, this wasn’t too bad as £20,000, £50,000 and £15,000 came out. The big one was still there…but then so was the little one! The Banker kept his offer unchanged at £35,000. Rodney kept his response unchanged with NO DEAL.

Round 6 began with a dream come true, out came 1p, jubilation swept over the audience. Next came Adam with box 18, which revealed £35,000. The jubilation was replaced by winces. Everything sat with this last choice, the difference between a life changing sum of money and going home no better off. The final box in this last full round to go was 7…certainly lucky for Rodney in this case as it contained £5! The Banker rang in with a staggering offer of £85,000. With £84,250 to lose, Rodney finally chose DEAL. If he’d been offered the swap he would have kept his box, which turned out to contain £750! Rodney, an accomplished deal maker, certainly made the right deal at the right time in his game and secured himself a position in the Deal or No Deal Hall of Fame.

Wednesday 13th June, Dave Grayson.
Dave, a 26-year-old hypnotherapist with a baby on the way, had an almost perfect first round. Out instantly was £750, £250, £1, £100 but as with so many games recently, the sting in the tale came in the form of £50,000. In response to this, the Banker’s first offer was a respectable £8008. Onwards for Dave with NO DEAL.

Round 2 was reasonable, following a pattern of all blues except one power five amount. This time we saw 50p, £35,00 and £10 going out. The Banker’s second offer was £15,000. Not enough for super sporty and competitive Dave who went for NO DEAL again. Round 3 continued the same tone as the two rounds before – not great but not awful. This time we started with box 15 opened by Kathleen containing £15,000. Next came box 21 opened by Mike containing £500 and the final box was 7 opened by Kay containing £5000. The Banker upped his offer again, to £20,000. NO DEAL again for Dave. Unfortunately round four was the round no one wanted to see, as out came three reds, the first being the big £250,000, closely followed by £10,000 an £3,000. Even if his biggest drams were now shattered, Dave still decided to NO DEAL at the Banker’s fourth offer of £12,500.

Luckily (and Dave needed some luck after the last round), a decent round ensued. It didn’t start well as the £20,000 came out but this was followed by £5 and 10p. The Banker raised his offer again to £18,500. Eric pointed out that if he continued and had the two high amounts left on the board at the end of the game, the Banker’s offer would be higher than its already been. With that the Banker rang back and offered £20,001, the highest offer so far. After doing a sweep of the East Wing, the general consensus was to deal. Dave’s competitive streak got the better of him and he played to the contrary – NO DEAL. Would this be a massive mistake? If the first box of the next round was anything to go by, then absolutely not – out came the 1p! Dave was overjoyed. He had just one blue and three reds left, two of which were power five amounts. Next out was the lower of those two, £75,000 and this was followed by the last remaining blue, £50. Dave was now in a very good place. And following the last choice of box that Dave chose, number 3, the Banker came in with £33,333 and Dave, who loves to win, went for DEAL. If the banker had offered the swap, he would have stuck with box 5 which did in fact contain £100,000. So although Dave went home with a big sum of money, he didn’t beat the Banker. It was one of the bravest games we’d seen in while though.

Thursday 14th June 2007, Philippa “Pippa” Convey
Pippa, a district councilor for her local village had a patchy first round revealing amounts of £100, £100,000, £15,000, £1 and £20,000. The offer came in at a reasonable £7,000. Pippa went with NO DEAL. Round 2 was far from perfect too as £3,000, £35,000 and 10p came out. The Banker marginally increased his offer though to £9,200. Still NO DEAL from Pippa. Following the exact same sketchy pattern, the next round saw £5,000, £50,000 and £500 go from the board. Pippa just couldn’t keep away from those power fives…or fives in general looking at the previous round! The offer crept up to £10,000 but Still NO DEAL from Pippa.

Round 4 began better, with box 8 opened by Adam containing £50. Next came box 21 opened by Kay containing £10,000. The final box 15 was opened by Eric containing £750. Phew, the power five escaped a battering in this round and the offer reflected this at £16,500. With the big one still there, Pippa went with NO DEAL. As fate would have it, the £250,000 came out in the next round, sandwiched between £250 and £5. Was it all over for Pippa? The Banker’s fifth offer plummeted to £4,500. Determined to save herself, Pippa opted for NO DEAL again. From here on in it all fell apart for Pippa – Although the next one out was 1p, this was followed up by £75,000, the last remaining power 5 and the highest amount on the board by a long shot. £10 was out next but this couldn’t save her now. The Banker’s offer was just £450. Continuing to the end, Pippa uttered NO DEAL for the last time. She also rejected the swap to reveal…50p! Box 9 contained £1000. A brave, but unrewarding game for Pippa.

Friday 15th June, Adam Field
Young Adam, who ahs 3 brothers one of whom is a twin, had a bit of a shocking first round. A blue £500 came out first but it went down hill from here as £75,000, £10,000, £5,000 and £15,000 followed suit. The Banker, who was probably rubbing his hands in glee already, offered a stingy £1,000. Not breaking the ever-constant pattern, Adam chose NO DEAL. He recovered in round 2 though by eliminating £3,000, £250 and £20,000. The Banker, perhaps a little hasty in the round before, gave his offer of £10,000. Absolutely NO DEAL from Adam. Another solid round followed as Adam saw off £100, £50 and on the edge of the Power 5, £35,000. The Banker had no choice but to double his offer to £20,000. Now it was Adam’s turn to rub his hands in glee!

Unfortunately this glee was short lived for Adam as in the middle of this round box 15 was opened by Manuel containing £250,000. Also out were 50p and £750 but this seemed trivial in the circumstances. The Banker’s laugh was practically audible through the studio walls. He offered just £1,500. Determined to get the better of him, Adam continued with NO DEAL. Poor Adam, things just went from bad to worse…Out next was the last remaining power five amount, £50,000 and then £1,000 and 10p. The Banker predictably called in and offered £500. Adam couldn’t give in just yet so still went for NO DEAL.

In round 5, Adam’s luck hit him a little too late as quite literally out of the blue came three blues - £5, £1 and £10. So with 1p and £10,000 left, the Banker made his final offer… of just £2,000. Adam had come this far so stuck to his guns – NO DEAL for the last time. He rejected the swap and his lucky 7 was opened to reveal…1p! What a totally disastrous ending to a game which never really took off.

Sunday 17th June 2007, Eric Bedford.
Eric, the Daddy of the group played on this Father’s Day special. He used to be an aviator in the RAF for 28yrs, but after catching and unidentified bug he lost his left eye. He carried on flying, when a few years later he suddenly in a matter of seconds lost the sight in his other eye, which resulted in the end of his career. He has a beautiful guide dog called Finn who he adores and has been a wonderful and well behaved figure in the dream factory!

The first green box Eric chose in round 1 was 7 opened by Mark containing £100,000. Not a good choice but this was part of Eric’s plan to open all the prime numbers in order with the first box of each round (but replacing 1 with 7 as 1 was Eric’s box). The rest of the first round was considerably better as out came £5,000, 10p, £10 and £1. The Bankers first offer was £9000, or in another way K9, especially for Finn and all the other guide dogs out there! NO DEAL from Eric. Round 2 began with box 2 opened by Dan containing £5. Next came the next prime number up 12, following Eric’s pattern, opened by Mac containing £75,000. Another power five amount gone. The final box was 22, opened by Sophie, contained £100- Much better. The Bankers rang in with his second offer of £12,500. With mileage still left in the board, Eric went for NO DEAL again. In pattern, round 3 began with number 3 containing £1000. Next came 9 containing just £50. The sting in the tail returned though as Joanne had £50,000 for the fourth game in a row! There were still two power 5’s left though and one was the big one so the offer came in at £20,000. The mind games between Eric and the Banker were due to continue though as Eric chose NO DEAL again.

Round 4, box 4 and the method was working as it contained just 50p. Box 8 however contained £35,000 – Eric couldn’t escape a round without revealing a power 5! Luckily this was counteracted by 1p in box 16. The Banker called in with £27,500. Maybe Eric trusted the patterns in his game so far anticipating that if a power five went in the next round, it would be the big one…or maybe Finn was just hungry! Either way with a 40% chance of picking the £250k in the next round, Eric cut his losses and went with DEAL. It happened just as the right time as out in the next round, as predicted, was £20,000, £750 and £250,000. The Banker’s fifth offer would have been just £4,500. It turned out that Eric’s box, number 1, contained just £3,000. So him and Finn went home with a big amount of money and they thoroughly beat the Banker.

Wednesday 20th June 2007 Manuel Pachon,
Manuel, a chef from Worcestershire but originally from Spain, had rotten first round! First and second out was £100,000 and £5000, the same as in Eric’s successful game a few days before. Unfortunately after this though came out £10, £20,000 and £75,000. Two of the big five gone already! The Banker’s first offer was £3,029. NO DEAL from Manuel. Things went from bad to worse in round two as £250,000 was first out. At least the blow of this was softened by £750 and £1 coming out next. The Banker’s second offer was £5,000. Holding out for more, Manuel chose NO DEAL again.

Round 3 looked positive as £50 was out first. Things swiftly crashed and burned though as the last two power five amounts, £35,000 and £50,000 disappeared from Manuel’s reach. The Banker’s offer sank like a lead balloon to £800. Determined to leave undefeated, Manuel chose NO DEAL once more. Round 4 finally contained some low numbers (perhaps too late!) as out came £3,000, 10p and 50p. The Banker doubles his offer to £1,600. Understandably this still wasn’t enough for Manuel so he continued to NO DEAL. Round 5 began with box 10 opened by Frazer containing £100. Next came box 15 opened by Usha containing £500. Could this be the all blue round that Mauel was looking for? No! As next came £10,000. The Banker’s penultimate offer was £1000. Determined to battle it out to the bitter end, Manuel chose NO DEAL. At the beginning of round 6 Manuel’s dreams shattered as out came the highest remaining red, £15,000. At least he wouldn’t be the next member of the 1p club as out next was 1p, and then the only red left, £1000. With only £250 and £5 left, the Banker’s last offer was just £80. For the last time from Manuel, NO DEAL. As the icing on the cake, Manuel decided to swap his box and it contained a measly £5. Poor old Manuel wouldn’t be celebrating with Sangria that night.

Sunday 24th June 2007, Stephen "Steve" Gould
Steve started his game in a similar fashion to so many of the other recently with a plethora of reds. Out first were £20,000, £5,000, £10,000, £5 and £100,000. The Banker reacted with an offer of £6,500 to which Steve responded with NO DEAL. Onwards to the second round, where things looked a little brighter as Steve chose box 13 opened by Jon containing £15,000 and followed this up with boxes 11 and 15 containing £100 and £750. The Banker’s offered whooshed up to £10,000. Not enough for Steve who chose NO DEAL again. Round three contained both the lowest and the highest amounts, but under the circumstances, it was disappointing to see it go. Out with these two also came £50. The Banker’s offer was a generous £6,500… and a Deal or No Deal mug. Foolish Steve still chose NO DEAL. Is he mad? Those mugs are like gold dust! Round 4 looked a little more optimistic but Steve still couldn’t keep away from the top five. This time he chose box 5, containing £50,000 and then 14 and 12 containing £1 and £500. The Banker’s fourth offer crept up to £7,500. Again NO DEAL for brave Steve. Now was the time for an all blue round. Could he make the magic happen? Certainly not, another negative start with £75,000 out of the game and two more blues £250 and 50p. What was the use of all these blues if they were always following up a giant amount!? The Banker’s fifth offer floated down to £3750. Round 6 was a make or break time. It was now a one-box game with all hopes lying on £35,000. At the worst possible moment, Steve pulled out an all red round, with the only reds left on the board. After waving goodbye to £1,000, £35,000 and £3,000 the Banker’s final offer was just £3.75. Steve uttered NO DEAL for the last time and left the gam to go home with only 10p!

Monday 25th June 2007 Kathleen Shaw
Kathleen is a retired admin worker from West Yorkshire and lives alone after divorcing 23 years ago. At the age of 74, when she had just about given up on finding anybody special, Ken came along and they are now very happy together. So, a lucky year for love with Kathleen, would it be a lucky year elsewhere too? It certainly looked that way with a remarkable first round, like none we’d seen in a very long time especially after Steve’s terrible game the day before. A beautiful run of blues were out first - £500, £1, £50, £750 and 50p. The Bankers first offer was a monstrous £11,000. On a high, Kathleen chose NO DEAL. For every high comes a low and all red round followed in round 2, thankfully only one of these were a power 5 amount and the lowest one at that at £35,000. Two low reds followed at £5,000 and £1,000. The Banker rang in with his second offer, which increased to £15,000. Crazy Kathleen decided to stay on the crazy chair for a while long and chose NO DEAL.

In round 3, things couldn’t look better as the lowest remaining red of £3,000 was knocked out next and after that came £10 in box 5 and £100 in box 18. This was turning out to be one beautiful game and one of the strongest games in many months. The Banker’s heart beat was almost audible through the phone. It’s lucky he liked Kathleen otherwise he’d be fuming, instead he was crying at the way things were panning out. He rang in with an offer of £21,000. Before Kathleen could utter a response, the Banker rang back and wickedly offered £21,000.10p as a painful reminder of Steve’s game the day before. Unswayed by these tricksy tactics the Banker had employed Kathleen chose NO DEAL. Jenny was chosen next with box 22 containing £10,000, not the end of the world especially as out next was £5 and 1p. The poor old Banker was running out of things to pull out of the bag, he came with an offer of £32,000. Noel pointed out that Kathleen had one a dream scenario and the four biggest number’s in play were still undiscovered. After a sweep stake and another bullying phone call from the Banker (which again backfired!) Kathleen chose to continue and NO DEAL.

Shaky ground was hit in round 5 as £15,000, £75,000 and £250 went from the board. Another fragile block was taken away from the red tower. The Banker couldn’t argue that the board was still incredibly strong and he offered £45,000, the same that he offered quarter of a millionaire Laura to get her out of the chair. This time it worked and Kathleen went for DEAL. What an enormous amount of money she was taking home! In the hypothetical next round, the sequence of amounts we wouldn’t want to have seen out next were 10p, £20,000 and £50,000…and this is exactly what happened!! The final two amounts left on the board were £100,00 and £250,000, what an opportunity missed. Now, the Banker’s laugh was almost audible down the phone as he offered a hypothetical £145,000. She would have gone for NO DEAL and kept her box which contained £100,000. Her lucky box 11 contained £250,000. A bittersweet win for Kathleen.

Friday 29th June 2007, SHOW 500! Ann "Annie" Hebington
In this very special episode of Deal or No Deal to celebrate the 500th show, there were a number of surprises in store, the biggest being that a massive £500,000 was added to the score board and was up for grabs by one of our lucky contestants. To read more about the fantastic surprise elements in this show, click here. In this game lucky Annie, a bus driver from St Albans, was randomly chosen to play. Would she be the first half millionaire on Deal or No Deal? The answer to this was confirmed in the first seconds of round 1 as the first box she chose contained £500,000, what a blow! This was only redeemed by the 1p being revealed next and for this the Banker decided to give all the contestants £500 and all of the audience a bottle of bubbly. The remainder of the first round included £750, £5,000 and £35,000. The Banker’s first offer was £4,500. NO DEAL from Annie.

Annie’s second round began in the exact same disastrous fashion as the first with box 20, opened by Enid containing £250,000. Next came two blues, 10p and £5. The Banker’s second offer was the same at £4,500. Still a NO DEAL from Annie. Before round 3, Annie joked that she’d probably now find the £100,000… and that’s almost exact what happened! First was £250, then £100,000 and then 50p. The Banker called in and for the third time offered £4,500, saying he was going to witness the ‘biggest crash of all time’. Unphased by the Banker’s malice, Annie stuck with NO DEAL. Round 4 began with box 12 opened by Brian containing £100. Next came box 19 opened by Igor containing £10. Could this be the all-powerful blue round? No! As the next one out was 18 containing £75,000. The four biggest amounts out in descending order in each round – a miracle indeed! The Banker called in and dropped his offer to an incomprehensible £1,500. He was being particularly cruel today. After some advice from the courageous contestants to keep going, Annie chose NO DEAL.

Finally in round five, Annie clutched onto some good luck pulling £500, £1 and £20,000 out of the game. Although not perfect, no power five’s appeared, no sting in the tail. The Banker had no choice this time but to lift his offer and decided to stop using Annie as an instrument of revenge. He offered £7,000 and as an extra apology said that she was prepared to give Annie an offer after every box opening from then on, if she didn’t accept this deal. After some soul searching and deliberating, Annie decided to face the unknown once more and chose NO DEAL. In this all new unique game play, the first box Annie chose was 15 containing £1,000. As promised the Banker then rang in and offered £10,000. A very, very sure Annie demanded the question immediately and responded with DEAL. It turned out that Annie’s box contained just £50 and the offer she dealt at was the highest she got. So, in this amazing episode Annie won a great big wad of cash and she beat the Banker.
