All Ireland champions Dublin begin their defence of Sam Maguire this weekend when they take on Louth at Croke Park on Sunday.

The odds suggest the Dubs will lay down a marker for the year to come with miniscule odds of 1/16 available on Pat Gilroy’s men.

The handicap favours the boys in blue by eight points, while Louth are 9/1 to topple the champions in their backyard.

Wexford are the 4/6 favourites in Croke Park’s opener this weekend with Glenn Ryan’s men Longford, fresh from their victory over Laois, available at 6/4.

In Connaught, London and Leitrim get their campaigns under way in Ruislip. The exiles are slight favourites at Evens to add to last year’s heroics with the men from lovely Leitrim at 11/10.

Over in Ulster, Fermanagh are 5/2 to overcome Down with Mournemen at 2/5.

The pick of the hurling this weekend is the clash of fallen giants Offaly and Wexford. Here, the faithful are the 4/7 favourites with Liam Dunne’s men at 13/8.

Meanwhile, in the other two Leinster fixtures, Dublin and Galway are both strongly favoured to overcome Laois and Westmeath respectively.
