Paddy Power are taking bets on whether the GAA will change the controversial “Square Ball” rule in time for next year's championship.

The rule came under scrutiny last summer after a number of high profile incidents during the championship. The odds would suggest however that the sight of the men in white coats scratching their heads following a rattling of the onion sack may not be a thing of the past.

It’s 3/1 for the Standing Rules Committee’s motion to be passed in April, and a very likely 1/5 that the rule will remain the same.

Paddy Power said: “It’s clear for all to see that the rule needs clearing up if the GAA were to implement the motion it would make next summer a lot less stressful for referees, fans and players.”
