Why do I feel like we’ve been here every year for the past 10 years? Kerry playing Cork at the business end of the summer.
Oh how Cork boss Conor Counihan would love if Croker was flooded and they had to play the match in Munster. Their recent record against the Kingdom in HQ is shocking! Surely they can’t crumble like they have in the past? Surely they can take huge belief from their comeback earlier this year? Sorry Conor, and all you Rebels fans, but no one’s going to stop this magnificent Kerry team from winning three in a row.
I think this is a team who in years to come, will get more credit than it’s getting now. Kerry have simply so many match winners in their squad its frightening. If you mark “Gooch” and “Star” out of the game, you can be sure O’Sullivan, Walsh (both of them) and Sheehan will come up with the goods.
The Rebels will look to their own “Bomber” to reproduce his impact in the Munster final. Michael Cussen’s involvement in 1-4 of Cork’s comeback and adding 1-2 against Kildare shows he can deliver. Don’t be surprised to see Daniel Bohane start (if fit) and man mark Cussen after his impressive introduction against Galway’s Joe Bergin.
A few of my mates made a nice few bob on my Tyrone tip last week but I’d be looking at the handicap Kerry -3 to pay for the pints this weekend.
Verdict: The team of a generation will bring the Kingdom to the final.
