Fernando Alonso – ‘I have best car ever’

Double Formula One world champions Fernando Alonso (16/5 to win drivers title on outright coupon at betfred) thinks his Ferrari team will be the ones to beat this forthcoming season.

The Spanish driver won the world drivers title in 2005 and 2006 when with Renault and has come out and hailed his new Ferrari F10 (Ferrari 11/8 to win constructors title on outright coupon) car as the best he has ever had.

Alonso has been testing the new car at Jerez and recorded second and sixth quickest overall times on Friday and Saturday respectively.

He said after the testing period the F10 is a more advanced car than any others he has driven at the same development stage, stating there was “no reasons” to worry about the forthcoming Formula One season.

The testing periods saw Mark Webber from Red Bull and McLaren’s Jenson Button (Webber 16/1, Button 14/1 to win title on outright coupon) set the fastest times on the two days, but Alonso thinks Ferarri are “still hiding” a few cards ahead of the season getting underway in Bahrain on March 14th.

“As of today, this is the best car I’ve ever had,” he told the Spanish media.

“The two days that I tested it was sunny and the track was dry and I could work more than I thought so I’m very happy. We have done a good job in terms of reliability and long runs.”
