The French international central defender completed a medical at White Hart Lane and will immediately go into the Spurs squad for the midweek Champions League match with Young Boys. In moving to Tottenham, Gallas becomes the first player to have played for Chelsea, Arsenal and Spurs and is the first player to cross the North London divide since Rohan Ricketts in 2002. He is sure to face a hostile reception when his new side travel to the Emirates Stadium on the 21st November, although Spurs manager Harry Redknapp played down the importance of the fact that Gallas had once captained Arsenal. "It's all cobblers," said Redknapp. "What's he done? It's not the Yorkshire Ripper I'm signing, is it? He's a footballer, he plays football."
