Wigan Athletic v Sunderland match betting preview

- 8 Sep 2010
Will Steve Bruce start with Darren Bent and Asamoah Gyan in attack for the Black Cats?

Sunderland won just two away matches in the Premier League last season and it’s something that manager Steve Bruce has looked to address this time around.

He has taken measures to improve his team’s disciplinary record and also signed the wonderful Asamoah Gyan from Rennes for a club record fee. The Ghanaian could be thrust into the action at the DW Stadium and is 13/2 with Paddy Power to open the scoring.

It will be interesting to see whether Steve Bruce places Gyan alongside Darren Bent, who scored his first goal for England during the week and Paddy Power offer 5/1 that he breaks the deadlock against a Wigan team that have shipped ten goals at home this season.

However, the Latics did manage a morale-boosting win at White Hart Lane a fortnight ago and bet365 offer 6/4 that they follow this up with another victory.

Sunderland are a best price 9/5 with William Hill to take the points and ensure it’s a happy journey home for the thousands of supporters who make the trip south.
