West Ham should have no problems sealing their place in the nPower Championship final and they can do it in style by beating Cardiff City on Wednesday.

West Ham United are a better team than Cardiff City. They showed this in the first leg of their playoff tie with the Bluebirds, winning 2-0 in Wales, and they are likely to be able to show it once again when the teams meet for the second leg at Upton Park on Wednesday.

It is 7/10 at William Hill that the Hammers win the match and, although that is short for a team that doesn't need to win, that is fair. West Ham were far too good at Cardiff City Stadium and their experience, with Mark Noble and Kevin Nolan running the midfield, should tell again this week.

The other advantage West Ham have is that they have goals in the team. Sam Allardyce may have been criticised for a perceived lack of adventure but he has filled his squad with players who can score goals. Ricardo Vaz Te (5/1, Bet Victor), Carlton Cole (5/1, Bet Victor) and Nicky Maynard (7/1, Ladbrokes) are all proven goalscorers and they will offer a goal threat that Cardiff can't match.

Malky Mackay's men simply don't have the players capable of causing problems for the West Ham defence and although the manager was upbeat about his side's chances there was also a tone of desperation about Cardiff's prospects of overturning a two goal deficit at Upton Park.

"Two-nil can be a dangerous score if they are put under pressure," said Mackay.

"The first goal will be vital and I think we need to score first - and if we do that we'll get a toe-hold back into the game. It can also change the atmosphere.

"But we have to be aware tactically and be aware of the result so far.

"We need to make sure we are disciplined as there is a tendency to go gung-ho from the first minute and go for it - but we must stay in the game.

"We know it will be a stiff test as they have experienced top-level players."

It is 9/2 at bet365 that Cardiff win on Wednesday and 12/1 at Paddy Power that they qualify for the final. However, expect gaps to be left as the Bluebirds chase the game and West Ham's attackers should be able to take full advantage.
