West Brom v Arsenal tips - Hodgson can leave Hawthorns on a high

Roy Hodgson's last act as West Brom manager can be to frustrate Arsenal at the Hawthorns (credit: Matthew Lewis/Getty Images)
Roy Hodgson's last act as manager of West Brom could be to frustrate Arsenal on Sunday.

Roy Hodgson will take charge of his last match as West Brom manager on Sunday before the leaves to lead England at Euro 2012 and he is sure to get a fantastic send off at the Hawthorns from supporters who will appreciate the excellent job he has done since taking charge of the club last season.

There will be something of a party atmosphere in the Black Country but it is a very serious match indeed for Arsenal. The Gunners need to win to ensure that they finish in the top four, and qualify for the Champions League, and they are strong favourites to do so with Blue Square offering a best price of 8/11 on the visitors.

That will be very popular amongst those who buy into the belief that when a team needs to win then they do win. However, it was the same story for Arsenal last weekend when they faced Norwich at the Emirates yet despite going 3-2 ahead with less than 10 minutes to go the Gunners couldn't claim the victory.

That draw, plus the two previous ties with Stoke City and Chelsea, raises doubts about Arsenal's ability to raise their game when required and those who back Arsene Wenger's side are taking a big risk. West Brom, who have nothing to play for, will not be worried by any pressure and that will make them very dangerous opponents.

The Baggies came from 2-0 down to draw 2-2 with Bolton last weekend and that result made it four matches unbeaten for the Albion and it would be no surprise if they managed to take a least a point on Sunday. They are 16/5 with Bet Victor to hold Arsenal to a draw or 9/2 with the same firm to beat the Gunners. The latter looks a bit fanciful but, at the prices, the former is certainly worth a small wager.

Recommendation

Win Market - Draw (16/5, Bet Victor)
