England striker Wayne Rooney has claimed that he would like Harry Redknapp to replace Fabio Capello as England manager.

Fabio Capello's shock resignation on Wednesday has left England searching for a new manager to lead the nation at Euro 2012 and the bookmakers' favourite is Harry Redknapp, who was coincidentally cleared of tax evasion charges on the day the job became vacant.

Many fans would like to see Redknapp, who has made no secret of his desire to manager England, and Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney has also given his backing to the Spurs boss, tweeting:

"Gutted capello has quit. Good guy and top coach.

"Got to be english to replace him. Harry redknapp for me."

It is 4/9 at bet365 that Harry Redknapp is appointed as the next England manager and Rooney's endorsement is surely not going to go unnoticed by the FA.
