Tottenham Hotspur v Fulham tips - Judgement day for Spurs and Redknapp

Spurs need to beat Fulham on Sunday to ensure a top four finish and they should do so although the Cottagers won’t roll over at White Hart Lane.

Tottenham Hotspur had third place more or less sewn up in January, when they were 13 points clear of Arsenal, but a terrible run of results has seen Harry Redknapp’s side lose their grip on a Champions League spot and they now need to win against Fulham to ensure that they finish in the top four.

It shouldn’t have come to this for Spurs but that is irrelevant in the context of Sunday’s game and the Whites must simply make sure that they pick up maximum points at White Hart Lane. If they do this then the end of season slump will be forgotten and Redknapp can begin building a side capable of competing in the Champions League.

It is 4/9 at bet365 that Spurs beat Fulham and they should do so. The home side will have a packed crowd behind them and in Gareth Bale, Luka Modric and Emmanuel Adebayor they have big game players who are capable of seeing them over the line.

However, Fulham aren’t a team that are likely to simply roll over and allow themselves to be beaten. Martin Jol’s side have performed admirably in recent weeks, despite having nothing to play for, and have only lost one of their last six matches, winning four times.

It is 8/1 at Boylesports that the Cottagers beat Spurs or 19/5 with the same firm that they claim a draw at White Hart Lane. Jol would no doubt love to get one over on his former employers and so an upset cannot be ruled out.

Ultimately though Spurs should win on Sunday but there could well be a scare or two along the way. With that in mind, it is perhaps worth backing over 2.5 goals at odds of 4/6 with Boylesports as this bet will land if the home side win but Fulham score and also if, unlikely as it may be, Tottenham run up a wide margin victory.

Recommendation

Over/Under 2.5 Goals – Over (4/6, Boylesports)
