The Gunners temporarily arrested their slump with three successive wins, over Shrewsbury Town, Bolton Wanderers and Olympiakos. Those who had previously written Arsenal off are, according to manager Arsene Wenger, being made to eat their words.

However, those wins were all at home and they were achieved against a League Two side, the team bottom of the Premier League and one of the worst teams in the Champions League. Despite this, Arsenal were only convincing against Bolton, conceding goals to both Shrewsbury and Olympiakos.

They were, in fact, lucky to beat the Greeks and that doesn't augur well for Sunday's North London derby against Tottenham Hotspur at White Hart Lane. The hosts are genuinely finding their form, scoring three consecutive Premier League wins, scoring eigth goals and conceding just one. Spurs are playing like a top four team and they could well finish the season as one.

Much of this is down to Ledley King. The club captain may not train with the first team squad and struggles to even play every second match but he is still absolutely vital to Spurs' success. The Lilywhites last win without the 30-year-old was back on April 7. This season they have played four games with King in the team and won all four, without him they are yet to record a victory in four matches.

King will start on Sunday and that means that Tottenham's defence can be trusted to deal with the threat of Robin Van Persie (13/2, Victor Chandler) who, in the absence of Theo Walcott and Gervinho, looks like Arsenal's only potential goalscorer. The Dutchman has carried the Gunners for almost a year now, with 28 goals in his last 30 games, but he will be unable to mastermind a win over Spurs, at odds of 5/2 with bet365, on his own.

The hosts, by contrast, have numerous match winners in their side. Van Persie's international team mate Rafael Van Der Vaart (8/1, Sky Bet), last season's Player of the Year Gareth Bale (9/1, bet365) and the rejuvenated Jermain Defoe (13/2, Victor Chandler) are all capable of turning a game but the man to watch for on Sunday is striker Emmanuel Adebayor.

The Togolese striker will be playing in his first match against Arsenal since signing for Spurs in the summer and he has history with the Gunners' fans. Two years ago he inspired Manchester City to a win over his former side and was banned for his provocative celebrations. He is in top form for Spurs this season, with three goals and one assist in his first three games for his new side. He is a hugely talented footballer when he wants to be and can be backed at 5/1 (bet365) to open the scoring on Sunday. Ladbrokes go 6/4 that the 27-year-old scores at any time and that looks a great bet, with the celebration afterwards sure to be interesting.

Tottenham are 6/5, at totesport, to beat Arsenal and that is another price that has to be pounced upon as, quite simply, they are the better side at the moment and they can prove it on Sunday.

Recommendation

Win Market - Tottenham Hotspur (6/5, totesport)
Anytime Goalscorer - Emmanuel Adebayor (6/4, Ladbrokes)
