Sheffield Wednesday will be hoping to prove that they are still a major player in English football when they host West Ham in the Third Round of the FA Cup on Sunday.

The fall of Sheffield Wednesday has been one of the most tragic aspects of English football in recent seasons. The Owls used to be one of the biggest sides in the country and their supporters some of the most passionate. Unfortunately, financial problems have seen them slip, not only out of the top flight, down the divisions and they are now coming to terms with life in League One.

The days of cup finals are long gone but the fans will be hoping that the current side can roll back the years and produce an FA Cup run to excite the city. They host West Ham in the Third Round and it is 19/10 at Paddy Power that they beat the Championship side on Sunday.

That price will attract plenty of interest as the Hammers could well field a weakened team at Hillsborough. Sam Allardyce's primary task this season is to win promotion to the Premier League and an FA Cup run is something that he could probably do without.

Given this, there is no value in odds of 8/5 at Bet Victor that West Ham beat Wednesday and even a draw, a 23/10 shot at Paddy Power, is of little interest to the visitors, as it means a replay and yet more fixture congestion.

Instead, back the Owls to pull off a minor upset on Sunday, which will leave the fans reminiscing about the 'glory days' and could inspire the players for their League One title push.

Recommendation

Win Market - Sheffield Wednesday (19/10, Paddy Power)
