Can Zlatan Ibrahimovic help Milan to another Serie A title?
AC Milan ended Inter Milan's dominance of Serie A by winning the scudetto last season, but their bid to retain the title is under threat from Juventus

Massimiliano Allegri deserves a lot of credit for the way in which he managed to not only win the Serie A title in his first year in charge at the San Siro but also for doing things his way. The 43-year-old didn't allow himself to be fazed by the big egos of star players such as Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Robinho nor by that of club president Silvio Berlusconi. He stamped his own authority on the Rossoneri, which resulted in attacking football but with some astute tactical decisions and one of the most impressive AC Milan sides in recent memory. They appear to be on course to retain their title and are 2/7 to do just that.

Allegri is clearly the right man for the job at the San Siro and he has brought stability to Milan, the importance of which cannot be overstated in Italian football. Inter Milan found this when Jose Mourinho left last summer, with Rafael Benitez unable to make any impact and Leonardo has quickly been followed out of the exit door by Gian Piero Gasperini, with Claudio Ranieri now in charge. Napoli and Roma have also welcomed new managers in the past 12 months and find themselves some way off the leaders.

Unbeaten Juventus have emerged as AC Milan's biggest threat this season. The Old Lady have spent considerable time at the summit but have been continually been written off by the ‘experts’. However, they are now 28 games into their season and remain unbeaten, four points behind the champions. They may also feel like they have a psychological advantage after dumping AC Milan out of the Coppa Italia.

There are other Serie A betting opportunities for the 2011/12 season and one that is often overlooked is the top goalscorer market. Udinese's Antonio Di Natale, who topped the charts last term, is 21/10 and will surely give punters a run for their money, while Napoli star Edinson Cavani can't be ignored at 13/5. AC Milan ace Ibrahimovic can currently be backed at Evens, with Inter Milan frontman Diego Milito now out to 25/1.
