Blackburn Rovers are the worst team in the Premier League this season. Manager Steve Kean looks far out of his depth in the top flight and the club's owners, Venky's, don't seem to have the supporters' interests at heart, which is almost certain to end with Rovers being relegated to the Championship.

They are the team that all sides will be expecting to beat this season and only a lucky win at Arsenal has kept Blackburn off the bottom of the league table. That may well change on Saturday, when Rovers travel to Loftus Road to face QPR.

Neil Warnock's side are something of an unknown at the moment. The signings of Joey Barton, Anton Ferdinand and Shaun Wright-Phillips suggest that Rangers are determined to make progress in their first year back in the top flight and their win over Wolves last month indicated that they could easily be a mid-table side.

However, that was followed by a 1-1 draw with Aston Villa, secured only by a late Richard Dunne own goal, then a 6-0 humiliation at the hands of Fulham in their most recent outing. These results suggest that QPR could be candidates for the drop with Blackburn this season and Saturday's match is shaping up to be a defining one for the home side.

A win, at odds of 10/11 with Boylesports, would help Rangers to convince their supporters that troubled times are not just around the corner but a defeat, which is a 15/4 shot at Victor Chandler, would have everyone connected with the club fearing the worst.

It should be the former. Barton, Wright-Phillips and Adel Taarabt are all proven match winners and although the latter is yet to find the net this season, it is not for the want of trying. The Moroccan has had more shots on goal without scoring than any player in the Premier League and he will surely find the net sooner rather than later. It is 13/2, at Victor Chandler, that he breaks his duck with the opener against Blackburn on Saturday and 11/5, at Coral, that he scores at any time against Blackburn. If he does then Rangers should beat Rovers and the Loftus Road crowd can start feeling positive about their side.
