Premier League third and fourth places wide open, says Harry Redknapp

Harry Redknapp admits he is as flummoxed as everyone else by trying to predict who will finish third and fourth in the Premier League this season.

Odds to finish in the Premier League Top 4:
Arsenal – 1/12 (Blue Square)
Tottenham – 1/6 (Coral)
Newcastle – 5/1 (Bet365)
Chelsea – 10/1 (BetVictor

Four teams still have a chance of third place, which will guarantee Champions League football next season.

Even more open is fourth position and that would also earn a Champions League qualifying berth if Chelsea lose the final of that competition to Bayern Munich.

None of the teams in third, fourth and fifth – Arsenal, Tottenham and Newcastle – won their games at the weekend, while Chelsea will be right back in the mix if they repeat their FA Cup Final victory at Liverpool on Tuesday.

Redknapp, whose Tottenham side drew 1-1 away to Aston Villa, said: “There was frustration because we would have been guaranteed fourth place with a win.

“But it’s all to play for still. There’s one game left and look at the permutations. It could be Chelsea, us, Arsenal or Newcastle. It’s just impossible to tell.

“We’ve all got tough games next week. Nobody has an easy game so it will be an interesting last day of the season.

“Fulham at home for us will be a hard game and Arsenal have got no gimme with West Brom away. Newcastle go to Everton.

“If Chelsea go and win at Liverpool and then beat Blackburn, we’ll have to win. A draw won’t do. We need to win.

“But it will be a tough game. Martin Jol won’t be coming back to Tottenham wanting to help us, that’s for sure, and Fulham are a decent team.”
