Premier League: Rooney 14/1 for Golden Boot After Villa Park Brace

Dave Higgins - 21 Oct 2007
There may have been heartbreak for the Man United striker in Russia last Wednesday, but Wayne Rooney bounced back in style with two goals and a Man-of-the-Match performance in the Red Devils' 4-1 win against Aston Villa on Saturday evening. The former Everton forward is now 14/1 (Stan James) to win this season's Golden Boot after scoring in his past two matches.

Portsmouth's Benjani leads the way after notching against Wigan at the weekend and can still be backed at 20/1 (bet365) if you think he can stay at the top of the scoring charts. With Robin Van Persie injured for potentially six weeks, it's his Arsenal team-mate Emmanuel Adebayor who is restored as favourite with most firms - the Togo international is 6/1 with totesport.

Didier Drogba was the boot winner last season and, despite rumours surrounding his Stamford Bridge future, is no bigger than 14/1 (VC Bet) to land the honour again. Blackburn's Benni McCarthy is the biggest market mover after his weekend brace against Reading and is now 22/1 (Stan James) to go one better than his second place last term.
