Premier League 2012-12 betting - Manchester City 11/8 to retain title

Manchester City are the 11/8 favourites to win the 2012-12 Premier League title.

Manchester City are just 11/8 to win the Premier League next season according to Ladbrokes.

Going into the incredible season finale City were 1/9 to lift the trophy and United could have been backed as big as 5/1, but that all changed no less than 50 times during in-play betting which saw over 1500 bets placed a minute via mobile phones during the second half alone, making it the busiest betting climax the industry has ever known.

But as 10-men QPR took an unexpected lead at The Etihad the roles reversed completely and it was now United who were in the driving seat at 8/13 and City now outsiders at 6/5.

As extra-time loomed with United winning and City losing the title was Fergie's at 1/33, but City's grandstand finish from 90 minutes on the clock saw them over come in-play odds of 12/1 to win their first Premier League trophy in over 40 years.

Roberto Mancini's side are now 11/8 to win next year's title with Manchester United sitting in their shadow at 9/4. At the other end of the table Bolton were condemned to Championship football, however they're 6/1 to win the league and it's 16/1 that all relegated teams bounce back next year.

Jessica Bridge of Ladbrokes told Bettingpro:

"You honestly couldn't have written that script. With today's games actually going right down to the wire this whipped punters up into an in-play betting frenzy as they tried to keep up with the drama."

She added: "With the outright odds changing 50 times it sent turnover through the roof as punters were left in suspense until the final whistle. Now that City have got their hands on the title we don't expect them to relinquish it next season."
