Paul Scholes came out of retirement to play for Manchester United against Manchester City in the FA Cup and the 37-year-old could now be included in England's Euro 2012 squad.

Paul Scholes is 8/1 with online bookmakers Sky Bet to be named in England’s Euro 2012 squad after making a sensational return to Manchester United.

Scholes, came off the bench in United’s 3-2 win over neighbours Manchester City in this afternoon’s FA Cup 3rd round tie at The Etihad Stadium, after agreeing a deal at Old Trafford until the end of the season.

Scholes, 37, retired from international football in August 2004 after winning 66 England caps, but a return to form could put him back in the frame with current manager Fabio Capello.

The midfielder is also offered at 12/1 in the special Scholes betting market to start in England’s first Euro 2012 match and 16/1 to score during the tournament.

On the domestic front Scholes is 8/11 to score a Premier League goal for United this season and 5/1 to score three or more in the league.

He is also 16/1 to skipper United in the FA Cup final and 20/1 to lead United out in the Europa League final.

Sky Bet’s Joe Petyt told Bettingpro:

“It was a surprise to see Scholes back in the Man Utd squad today and his recall hints of a bit of desperation from Sir Alex Ferguson to improve his lacklustre midfield.

“He’s obviously not going to play in every game in the second half of the season but he could still prove very influential against some of the lesser sides in the run-in. It remains to be seen whether an aging midfield containing the likes of Scholes and Giggs is going to be good enough to maintain a title challenge.”
