Olympiakos v Arsenal Tips – Arsenal second string can frustrate hosts

Arsenal have already booked their place in the next round of the Champions League, and the Gunners’ second string can prevent Olmpiakos from joining them.

Match odds

Arsenal's away record in the Champions League is far from spectacular, with just two of their last ten on the road in the competition proper ending in victory, so it is no surprise that they are outsiders in a fixture that they don't need to win.

The Gunners are sure of first place in Group F regardless of how they fare in Greece, meaning that they are likely to give their second string a chance against an Olympiakos side desperate to join them there.

The Greek champions appeared to be out of contention after losing their first two games but have recovered, yet not to a great enough extent to justify odds of 1.99 on them defeating a club who regularly reach the latter stages.

It isn't a priority, however Arsene Wenger will want to stay unbeaten in this year's edition. Though he is indebted to the hosts after their triumph in Marseille handed Arsenal top spot, it won't be well received back in France if his team are viewed to have gone down without a fight.

Olympiakos have lost two of their last three Champions League home ties and last won successive matches in it outside of the qualifying rounds in 2007, so the best option in this market looks to be either to lay them at 2.0 or back the draw at 3.6.

Over/under 2.5 goals

The initial clash between the two at the Emirates finished 2-1, but both of their meetings two years ago, both of Arsenal's away group games this season and Olympiakos' last two have all fallen below the 2.5 goal mark, and 1.75 is a decent price on that being the case again.

To score

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain scored on his European debut against Olympiakos in September and is expected to make his second start. The youngster has netted in two of his first four for Arsenal in all competitions, and is 5.7 to fire again.

Match odds: Olympiakos 1.99, Arsenal 4.4, The Draw 3.6
