Bet on the Premier League at Betfair

Where has it all gone wrong for Liverpool? Anfield. Their home form has been shocking, the crowd are getting restless and the board are increasingly concerned by results.

With the obvious exception of 1989, I hated going to Anfield. In those days it was a fortress but, this season, Liverpool have won more away matches than they have at home. Opta remind us that only relegated Wolves have collected less points in 2012 and last week's 1-0 defeat to West Brom was a new nadir.

So will the Reds get anything in East Anglia? Sometimes, when things are going awry, an away trip can liberate players. Ironically, fans who follow their team on the road are more patient, less likely to get on your back at the first sign of trouble. But Norwich have been impressive this season and, on current form, avoiding defeat might constitute a good result for the visitors.

Match Odds

Back in October, the teams drew the corresponding fixture 1-1 and I wouldn't be surprised to see a similar result at Carrow Road. Norwich have suffered a few disappointing results and Opta point out that they've won only one of their last ten in the league. Overall, however, they have had a very good first season back in the top flight. At the outset, they would certainly have settled for being 12th with three games to play and, if they win this one, they will be level on points with Liverpool. The Canaries haven been a little overshadowed by Swansea's extraordinary progress and stylish play. Norwich go about their business quietly, their manager has a lot of guile and I expect them get at least a draw against Liverpool.

Both Teams To Score

Norwich have conceded more goals at home than any team outside the relegation zone. However, Liverpool's main problem is scoring, with Luis Suarez and Andy Carroll both struggling for form. Grant Holt is by far the most prolific striker who will be playing on Saturday. He scored against Liverpool at Anfield and will fancy his chances of getting behind Daniel Agger and Martin Skrtel. Liverpool were insipid last against West Brom but they notched three in their last away match and Opta tell me that Norwich haven't kept a clean sheet in 11. Back both teams to score.

Under/Over 2.5 Goals

This is one of those weekends when I look at the fixture list and wonder where the goals are going to come from. Neither side possesses the top flight's best defence but Liverpool's lack of vim - Opta say the Reds have converted just nine per cent of shots into goals, a lower proportion than any other side in the top flight - and Paul Lambert's determination that Norwich put in a solid defensive display, following their 6-1 home defeat to Manchester City, means I'm backing unders.
