Next Swansea City FC manager odds - Michael Laudrup the new favourite

Michael Laudrup is the subject of a huge gamble to become the next Swansea City manager - and has even taken over as favourite with one bookmaker.

Most firms have slashed the Dane’s odds for the Liberty Stadium job and Boylesports have put him at the head of their market, making him just 3/1. BetVictor offer the best price of 5/1.

Swansea are seeking a new boss after Brendan Rodgers left the club last week to take over at Liverpool following Kenny Dalglish’s sacking.

Laudrup would be a popular choice among Swansea supporters as he would almost certainly continue the free-flowing style of football implemented by Rodgers and his predecessor Roberto Martinez.

His last managerial job was with Mallorca, whom he left in the autumn of 2011, and he is rumoured to be open to offers.

However, his agent, Byram Tutumlu, has announced there has yet to be any contact from Swansea.

“We have not heard anything from Swansea,” said Tutumlu.

Another man whose odds have been cut is Gus Poyet, the original favourite who has resumed that position with Bet365 but is still available at 5/1 with Coral.

In what still looks a wide-open market, Wigan assistant manager Graeme Jones is the 2/1 favourite with Sky Bet even though it looked like he had ruled himself out of the reckoning over the weekend, while Blackpool boss Ian Holloway is on the drift to 4/1.

Next Swansea City permanent manager – best odds available:

  4/1 Ian Holloway (Bet365)
  5/1 Graeme Jones (BetVictor)
  5/1 Michael Laudrup (BetVictor)
  5/1 Gus Poyet (Coral)
14/1 Marcel Desailly (BetVictor)
16/1 Jose Ramon Sandoval (BetVictor)
18/1 Antoine Kombouare (Sky Bet)
20/1 Johan Cruyff (Sky Bet)
20/1 Karl Robinson (BetVictor)
25/1 bar
