The Czech Republic are through to Euro 2012 after a 1-0 second-leg win in Montenegro completed a 4-0 aggregate victory.

The Czech’s headed to Montenegro with a two-goal cushion from the first leg and Montenegro, who finished behind England in the group stage, were denied a memorable comeback by Czech Republic goalkeeper Petr Cech.

Montenegro took 40 minutes to create their first real opening of the game when Elsad Zverotic fed Dejan Damjanovic, and he turned his marker before firing wide from the edge of the penalty area.

The hosts came out a different side after the interval, determined to haul themselves back into the tie, but they found stubborn resistance from Chelsea and Czech Republic number one Cech.

Mirko Vucinic was denied by a combination of Cech and the crossbar, and he then headed another chance over as the minutes ticked away.

Vucinic’s frustrations grew as he was again denied by Cech on two occasions, and their hopes of a fightback were ended nine minutes from time when Petr Jiracek netted Croatia’s winner on the night.
