Mark McGhee named Aberdeen manager

Aberdeen have revealed Motherwell boss Mark McGhee as their new manager.

Aberdeen made their move for McGhee after their manager Jimmy Calderwood left the club at the end of last season.

Aberdeen have been in talks with McGhee for over a week and a compensation package has now been settled with Motherwell, with Scott Leitch rumoured to join McGhee as his assisstant manager.

McGhee is highly regarded as a tactical manager and helped guide Motherwell into Europe during his two seasons at Fir Park.

The 52-year-old, who was also linked with the Celtic post, was a huge fans favourite at Aberdeen during his playing days.
