Mark Hughes targets QPR Premier League survival at Manchester City

Mark Hughes believes it would be a “fantastic story” if QPR can clinch Premier League survival in their final game of the season away to Manchester City.

Premier League relegation odds:
1/100 Blackburn (Coral)
4/11 Bolton (William Hill)
5/2 QPR (Ladbrokes)
33/1 Wigan (Coral)

With Blackburn looking almost certainties to join Wolves in going down, only one more place in the bottom three is there to be filled and Bolton are now favourites for the drop after they let a 2-0 lead slip against West Brom to draw 2-2.

QPR gave their hopes of staying up a huge boost when they snatched a last-gasp 1-0 win at home to Stoke, which put them two points above Bolton.

It means that even if Bolton beat Stoke in their last match of the campaign, QPR would stay up if they can take a point away to Manchester City due to their much better goal difference.

That scenario could also mean denying City, who sacked Hughes in December 2009, their first league championship title since 1968 if Manchester United win at Sunderland.

QPR manager Hughes said: “It would be a fantastic story if we could go there and get something. City are going for the title and we are trying to stay in this league.

“I think to be honest I probably looked at the fixtures we had when I first got the job and that one loomed quite ominously in the distant future.

“It’s upon us now and we still have an opportunity to stay in the league by our own efforts.”
