UPDATE - Liverpool FC confirm they have had several bids for new club - click here for latest.

It's been a decent summer for supporters of Liverpool FC, with Steven Gerrard and Fernando Torres deciding to stay at Anfield, not to mention the appointment of Roy Hodgson as manager and the signing of Joe Cole.

However, all this good news has been clouded by the massive debt that Liverpool FC currently have, so it must be exciting for the fans to hear that Chinese tycoon Kenny Huang has reportedly started talking with Royal Bank of Scotland about a potential takeover.

It has now been confirmed that Huang has offered to clear the £237m of debt that Liverpool FC currently have. It's also completely likely that Tom Hicks and George Gillett will be powerless to prevent a deal going through due to the terms of the recent re-financing deal.

Apparently, Huang is keen to push the deal through quickly and free up some funds for Roy Hodgson to sign new players before the start of the season.

Liverpool are 7/4 (Blue Square) to finish in the top four of the Premier League this season.
