Lecce’s excellent run came to an end in midweek and they will hope to revive their spirited relegation battle when they host Parma.

A sequence of only one defeat in 12 games had given the Giallorossi an excellent chance of avoiding the drop, but things did not go their way in the re-arranged programme of fixtures.

Losing 2-0 at home to Napoli was no disgrace, but the problem was that Fiorentina, Cagliari and Atalanta all won to put more breathing space between themselves and third-bottom Lecce.

It increasingly looks like being a duel between Lecce and Genoa for who will join Cesena and Novara in dropping out of Serie A.

Yet Lecce are the Evens favourites to get back on the winning track against a Parma side who are 13/5 and have climbed into the top half of the table following a run of four wins in five games. The draw is a 5/2 chance.

Sebastian Giovinco has been one of the mainstays in Parma’s recent surge and he is 7/1 to open the scoring in this game.

But perhaps the key to this match is veteran Lecce striker David Di Michele, who has enjoyed a consistent campaign and most of his 11 goals this season have come when his team have ground out a positive result.

Di Michele is the 15/4 favourite to notch the first goal here and his side will be banking on him as they aim to climb out of the bottom three.
