Tottenham manager hoping to rotate to avoid fatigue

Tottenham Hotspur manager believes that his squad is strong enough to cope with the demands of chasing a Champions League spot, and claims that he is comfortable with the level of replacements he can bring in for the Carling Cup quarter-final clash with Manchester United on Tuesday evening.

Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson has long used the league cup as an opportunity to test out fringe players, and Redknapp believes that he now finally has a squad, with reserves who can match those of the top 4 clubs.

He said:

"I can change a few players around, players who have trained hard and showed a good attitude around the club,

"We want to get to Wembley if we can, it's a great day out,

"But it's a tough week and gives me the chance to look at one or two players. We made plenty of changes at Preston and Doncaster."

Redknapp, whose Spurs side sit third in the Premiership table, with just over a third of the season gone, also talked up his side’s Champions League credentials, saying:

"For us to get into the Champions League would be a real big achievement. Everton did it the other year. Why not? Of course it could happen, Villa and Man City could  get in there this year.

"There's an opportunity but it will be very hard. We have a good a chance as anybody."
