Dutchman to work with Diego Maradona

Russia manager Guus Hiddink has been told to expect an approach from the Argentina FA, about working alongside Diego Maradona as manager of the Argentine national side for the World Cup in South Africa.

Dutchman Hiddink has tremendous World Cup pedigree, having guided Australia to the quarter finals in Germany, and reached the competition’s semi-finals with both South Korea, and his native Holland.

Following Russia’s failure to qualify for next summer’s tournament, it is thought that Hiddink would be open to offers, and working as co-manager with Maradona is an idea which appeals to the former Chelsea boss.

He said:

"That would not be a bad idea, would it?

"We know each other well. It even makes me smile thinking about it. But I do have a contract with Russia, which covers the period of the World Cup.''

Argentina (11/1, Totesport) are already one of the favourites to win the World Cup, and with Hiddink on-board, their chances would surely improve.
