Gary Mills talks up Erik Tonne loan Visit Blue Square Save For Later Posted by Bettingpro Staff 8 Feb 2012 Tweet Related Articles See all Blue Square Premier news Share it Pin It Gary Mills admits he had to convince former teammate Danny Wilson that York City was the right place for Erik Tonne to continue his football development.The Norwegian winger joined the Blue Square Bet Premier side on loan from Sheffield United when it became apparent he would have been used sparingly at Bramall Lane this season.And now Blades boss Wilson, who played with Mills with at Nottingham Forest, has challenged the 20-year-old to use the experience to make him a better player.Mills told the Star: "I spoke with Danny and they (United) were a bit reluctant to let Erik come out. Nevertheless, they feel it is right for him to come here and that's great for us."Erik is a good player and he's hungry to do well in this country."We need another midfielder and someone who can score us goals from that area."That's why we brought Erik here."We feel as if he can create too because he's a good crosser of the ball and obviously knows where the net is."Wilson added: "You can't beat playing competitive football when it comes to building someone's experience."Playing against hardened professionals for points is, ultimately, what it's all about."When, in some cases, people's careers and livings are on the line, it's an excellent learning curve."What Erik has got to do now is soak all of that up and put the knowledge he gleans to good use when he comes back."Tonne last played for United three months ago but has two goals to his name after scoring in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy win against Burton Albion as well as in the victory over Bury and he is expected to make his debut for York against Grimsby this weekend.
