Bolton manager challenges mis-firing striker
Bolton Wanderers manager Gary Megson has publicly challenged Swedish striker Johan Elmander to start scoring regularly for the trotters, and reclaim a regular starting place in the side.
Elmander has struggled to adapt to English football, since a £10 million transfer from Toulouse in summer 2008, and only managed 7 goals in 35 Bolton appearances last season.
He scored his first goal of the season during Wanderers 5-1 defeat to Aston Villa, and manager Megson hopes that the goal will kick-start a run of form for the Swede.
Megson said:
"He has found himself out of the team and whether that has had a positive effect, I don't know,
"It is a big season for him and it was nice he scored against Aston Villa.
"He is a good player, but he's got to deliver on a regular basis the same as everybody else."
Elmander is 8/1 (Ladbrokes) to open the scoring against Blackburn on Sunday
