Roy Hodgson recently conceded that Fernando Torres had some kind of ‘beef’ with Liverpool FC, something which had alerted Chelsea and Manchester City that the Spaniard could be prepared to move away from Anfield this summer.

However, the Spaniard quashed those rumours on Tuesday afternoon by declaring that he’s staying put at Liverpool for the foreseeable future. He told the official Liverpool website:

"From my first day I got the same welcome as Stevie or Carra or players who have been here for a long time. I felt at home from the first day, I feel the fans love me and everyone knows I am really happy here and really happy to play at Anfield. As I said earlier, I'm looking forward to starting the season and playing with my teammates and for the fans."

Its brilliant news and one which fill supporters full of optimism after Steven Gerrard recently committed himself to Liverpool FC. With Roy Hodgson at the helm, Joe Cole on board and a potential takeover in the offing, there are reasons to be cheerful for Reds supporters.

Fernando Torres is 8/1 (Stan James) to win the Premier League Golden Boot.
