FA Cup Final 2012: Pepe Reina attacks Chelsea's treatment of Fernando Torres

Pepe Reina believes his former Liverpool team-mate Fernando Torres has not been given enough support by Chelsea since his £50million move from Anfield.

Torres has finally found his goalscoring form for the blues and could face Liverpool in the FA Cup Final at Wembley. He is a best-priced 15/2 joint favourite with Stan James to score the first goal.

But until recently, the Spaniard had struggled badly to justify his huge price tag and was frozen out for long periods by manager Andre Villas-Boas who was sacked in early March.

Liverpool goalkeeper Reina was quoted by the Daily Mirror as saying: “I don’t think Chelsea, as a club, delivered for him. The pressure was there but I don’t think it was only down to Fernando.

“The difference between Fernando and myself is that I have had the confidence of the people at my club all the time.

“I don’t think that has been the case for him at Chelsea. It is much easier to get over mistakes when you know you have the confidence of your manager and team-mates. With Villas-Boas especially, I don’t think Fernando felt that.”

Torres is contending for a place in the Chelsea line-up with fellow striker Didier Drogba, who is Stan James' other 15/2 joint favourite to be the first goalscorer in the FA Cup Final.

Luis Suarez is the shortest-priced Liverpool player in that market at 8/1, while Chelsea penalty-taker Frank Lampard is 9/1 and his fellow England midfielder Steven Gerrard an 11/1 chance.
