Everton v Manchester City tips - Toffees could prove sticky at Goodison Park

Manchester City could be vulnerable when they take on Everton at Goodison Park on Tuesday night.

Manchester City are top of the Premier League and Roberto Mancini has spoken of his confidence in his current squad's ability to push on and win the title, so much so that the Italian has no plans to add any new faces before the close of the January transfer window.

This could, however, be a mistake as recent performances have shown the Citiznes to be very falible. They were beaten at home by Manchester United in the FA Cup and also knocked out of the Carling Cup by Liverpool. City did beat Tottenham Hotspur in their last Premier League match but there was an element of luck to the 3-2 victory, with Mario Balotelli's winning goal coming in the 95th minute.

The Italian will not be in the squad for Tuesday's trip to Goodison Park to face Everton and that leaves Mancini short of options in attack. Edin Dzeko, who is 5/1 at Sky Bet to open the scoring, is not reaching the heights of earlier in the season and that puts a lot of pressure on Sergio Aguero (9/2, Ladbrokes) and David Silva (8/1, Betfred).

David Moyes is a shrewd enough managed to recognise this threat and it is likely that Jack Rodwell and Marouane Fellaini will be asked to play as holding midfielders as the Toffees try to close down space in the centre of the park. This will make it difficult for City to create many chances and it could lead to a tough game for the visitors.

It is 20/23 at Boylesports that Manchester City win at Goodison Park but that price looks very short. Everton may not pose much of an attacking threat, and the return of Vincent Kompany will help the City defence, but they may be good enough to score once, with Fellaini, Tim Cahill and even Phil Jagielka threats from set-pieces.

One goal will most likely be enough for Everton to secure a point on Tuesday, at odds of 13/5 with Bet Victor. The same firm offer 4/1 that the Toffees beat the league leaders but that is perhaps a bit too ambitious.

Recommendation

Win Market - Draw (13/5, Bet Victor)
