Everton v Man Utd Team News – Van Persie set for debut

Manchester United new signing Robin Van Persie poses at Old Trafford in Manchester, north-west England on August 17, 2012, Van Persie signed from Arsenal for £24,000,000 on a four year deal. (credit: ANDREW YATES/AFP/GettyImages)

Robin van Persie is expected to make his Manchester United debut when The Red Devils take on Everton this Monday evening.

Best Match Odds

Everton – 7/2 with Boylesports

Man Utd – 10/11 with Betfred

The Draw – 11/4 with Sky Bet

Van Persie completed his £24million move to Old Trafford on Friday and will slot straight into the United team alongside Wayne Rooney and fellow new boy Shinji Kagwa this Monday.

I am looking forward to following in the footsteps of so many great strikers, bringing my experience and playing my part to help the team compete for the biggest trophies in the game,” said Van Persie on signing for United. “I can't wait to get started.”

Nemanja Vidic will also return to the starting XI after spending most of last season on the sidelines, but injuries to Phil Jones (back), Chris Smalling (metatarsal) and Jonny Evans (ankle) mean that Ferguson’s defensive options are limited.

Everton, however, will not be able to showcase their new offensive personnel, as the signing of Kevin Mirallas from Olympiacos was not completed in time for this game.

“It's a shame I can't play but I'm looking forward to being there and looking forward to the game,” said Mirallas. “I know it's a big game for us.”

Marouane Fellaini (groin) and Darron Gibson (hip) are both concerns for David Moyes, but both are expected to pass late fitness tests and be named in the starting XI.

Starting Teams (probable):

Everton: Howard, Neville, Jagielka, Heitinga, Baines, Osman, Gibson, Fellaini, Pienaar, Naismith, Jelavic

Man Utd: De Gea, Rafael, Ferdinand, Vidic, Evra, Scholes, Carrick, Kagawa, Young, Rooney, Van Persie
