Everton v Fulham tips - Cottagers can beat depleted Toffees

Everton host Fulham at Goodison Park on Friday and it is an opportunity for the Cottagers to continue their good recent form.

Fulham produced the result of the week when beating Newcastle United 5-2 at Craven Cottage on Saturday. Martin Jol's side played exciting attacking football against the Magpies and they were good value for the victory with Bobby Zamora, Clint Dempsey and Andy Johnson forming a potent attacking trio.

Hopefully Jol will resist the urge to tinker with his team and he will play those three in the FA Cup clash with Everton at Goodison Park on Friday as, if he does, there is an excellent chance for Fulham to progress to the last 16 of the competition. It is 14/5 at Paddy Power that Fulham beat the Toffees and that price could look very generous come Friday night.

Last weekend we recommended opposing Everton as they were both without defenders and strikers and nothing has changed for David Moyes. The Scot is still working with one of the smallest squads in the Premier League and Darron Gibson is not the answer to his problems. They managed to score just once against Blackburn Rovers and looked very shaky at the back, with Rovers unlucky not to have claimed more than a point from the game.

Everton are evens at bet365 to bounce back from that disappointment by beating Fulham at Goodison Park but it is difficult to back a team that has no recognised goalscorers and failed to beat Bolton and Aston Villa recently. Fulham possess far more attacking threat than either of those two sides with Zamora, who is 7/1 at Sky Bet to open the scoring, or 12/5 to find the net at any time, in particularly good form. The England international could do with a good end to the season to boost his chances of playing at Euro 2012 and a few goals against a makeshift Everton defence would certainly help his case.

Recommendation

Win Market - Fulham (14/5, Paddy Power)
Anytime Goalscorer - Bobby Zamora (12/5, Sky Bet)
