England Euro 2012 squad betting after Fabio Capello quits

Fabio Capello's resignation as England manager has meant there has been an overhaul in the betting on who will make the Euro 2012 squad.

Fabio Capello has quit as England manager and that has major implications for many of the current squad with the Italian's replacement almost certain to have his own ideas on who should represent the country at this summer's European Championships in Ukraine and Poland.

The current favourite to replace Capello is Tottenham Hotspur manager Harry Redknapp, who Sky Bet make the 2/7 favourite to be appointed England manager, and it is therefore no surprise to see that the firm have cut a number of Spurs players in their 'to make the Euro 2012 squad' market.

Aaron Lennon is now an 8/11 chance to be on the plane to Ukraine and Poland with team mate Jermain Defoe also odds-on, at 10/11. Ledley King, who was a shock inclusion by Capello in the World Cup 2010 squad is now just 6/4 to go to Euro 2012. His defensive partner at Spurs, Michael Dawson, is a 7/2 chance.

Some players will, inevitably, be looking over their shoulder now that Capello has left and Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere, who is currently injured, tweeted:

"People have there own judgement on Capello but for a young player who was given the chance to play for my country at such a young age...

He has shown great belief and trust in me so I can only thank him....massive influence on my career so far! Sad to see him go!"

Wilshere is now 4/9 to be part of the England squad that goes to Euro 2012 with other players on the drift including Darren Bent (1/3), Joleon Lescott (4/9) and Phil Jagielka (5/1).

One player who may have to wait to find out his England involvement this summer is John Terry. The Chelsea defender was stripped of the England captaincy following the announcement of a trial for allegations of racial abuse and that decision by the FA was the catalyst for Capello's departure. Whoever replaces the Italian will have to make a decision on the defender although it is currently 1/6 that he will be part of the England squad that travels to Euro 2012.
