Striker praises side’s ability to perform in big games

Didier Drogba has claimed that it is Chelsea ability to put in big performances in important matches which separates the league leaders from their title rivals.

Drogba’s 10th and 11th Premier League goals of the season, helped Chelsea to a 3-0 win over Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday afternoon, to maintain a five point lead at the top of the league.

The win was the third team that Chelsea had beaten one of the Premiership’s ‘big 4’ to nil this season, having already recorded victories over both Manchester United and Liverpool at Stamford Bridge in recent weeks, and Drogba said that it is this ability to raise their game for crucial matches which distinguishes Chelsea from them rivals.

He said:

"Arsenal played their game, but we were stronger than them,

"Every time we had the chance to score we did. We took our chances.

"Physically we defended well and were really strong, mentally as well.

"I don't know about Arsenal, but it is our strength to perform when it matters.

"Even against Manchester United, when the game was really difficult, we won.

"We know how to go through difficult periods when the game is hard.

"That is why when we get a chance we know how important it is to score."

Drogba is now 3/1 (Bet365) favourite to be the Premier League’s top scorer this season.
