Moyes was 7/1 when betting on the market opened, but he has been backed in to 7/2 second favourite, behind only the in-demand Jose Mourinho (11/4). Moyes played down talk of him taking over at Old Trafford today, saying: "As far as I'm concerned this is a load of nonsense." However, SkyBet are unconvinced by his denials and the firm’s spokesman Joe Petyt said: "If Man United are looking for a manager with Premiership experience to take over from Ferguson they have to look at the likes of Moyes who has done very well at Everton on a restricted budget.
