The defending MLS champion beat shorthanded Arabe Unido 2-1 on Wednesday, getting two goals from Costa Rican international Alvaro Saborio, one on a penalty in second-half injury time.

Cruz Azul, which has reached the finals of the Champions League the past two years, will be out to avenge its opening group loss to Toronto. Enrique Meza's side is 4-1 in the early stages of the Mexican Primera Division's Apertura, winning at Chiapas this past weekend thanks to three goals by midfielder Christian Gimenez.

RSL will have to be wary of Gimenez, who has four goals in his last two matches.

However, Jason Kreis' also has momentum, which has carried it within striking distance of the Western-Conference leading Los Angeles Galaxy.

RSL has scored a league-leading 36 goals and conceded the second-lowest (16).
