Chelsea v Liverpool live stream - Chelsea to avenge Bridge defeat

Liverpool are heading back to Stamford Bridge for the second time in less than two weeks, but a repeat win over Chelsea looks highly unlikely on Tuesday night.

Glen Johnson’s last-gasp winner meant the Reds left with three points from a recent Premier League fixture, and the two giants of English football will go head-to-head again on Tuesday night in Carling Cup quarter-finals. However, this match will be very different as Liverpool manager Kenny Dalglish has already suggested he will name a ‘weakened’ side for this match.

The Scot is furious that his side have been scheduled to face the Blues just 48 hours after their clash with Premier League leaders Manchester City, calling the decision “disgraceful”. Dalglish even went as far as to tell the club’s official website: “The one thing I will say to our fans is to think carefully before buying tickets for the League Cup game. We do not want them spending their money and then we decide there is no other option but to use only young players in the tie.”

So it looks like the Liverpool kids will be taking to the pitch on Tuesday night, but there could be some experience in the fold with Wales international Craig Bellamy expected to return after missing the City match on compassionate grounds, while Andy Carroll could be restored to the starting XI atfer finding himself on the bench in recent weeks.

Meanwhile, Chelsea’s players will be looking to ease the pressure on manager Andre Villas-Boas. A terrible run of form has led to speculation that the Portuguese could be set for a swift exit from the Bridge, and while a win over Wolves will have helped his cause a little, the Blues will have to start stringing together results in all competitions if Villas-Boas is to remain an employee of tigger-happy Roman Abramovich.

A game against a ‘weakened’ Liverpool side will be an ideal chance to make it back-to-back wins in all competitions, and unsurprisingly Chelsea are 4/5 favourites at Ladbrokes to win this clash. Liverpool are 7/2 to add to Villas-Boas’ problems, while the draw is priced at 5/2. The same firm are offering 1/3 on Chelsea “to qualify” for the semi-finals, with Liverpool at odds of 2/1.

Chelsea frontman Fernando Torres is poised for a recall to the starting XI for the game against his former employers. Like team-mate Didier Drogba, Torres can be backed at 5/1 (SkyBet) to be the first goalscorer and 4/1 (bet365) to be the last goalscorer, while Daniel Sturridge is 11/2 (Betfred) in both of those markets.

For Liverpool, Andy Carroll is 10/1 in both the first goalscorer and last goalscorer markets, while Craig Bellamy is 11/1 (bet365) in those two markets.
