York City boss Gary Mills lauded his side's performance after they cruised past Solihull Moors 3-0 in their FA Trophy replay at Damson Park on Tuesday.

Chris Smith opened the scoring for the Minstermen before Matty Blair netted a brace to secure the result in the visitors' favour.

"We wanted to put things right after Saturday and, from start to finish, we had a desire to win last night. The performance was excellent," Mills declared.

On Blair's contribution, he added: "They were two great goals from Matty Blair, even though I missed the second one because my bladder is not what it used to be at the age of 50.

"I'm delighted for 'Blairy' - he's a team player and his work-rate was excellent again."

Mills switched his team to a 3-5-2 system for the clash and said: "Our standards were not what they should have been on Saturday but the changes we made worked well and we looked solid."
