Chelsea FC to spend £83million on Hulk?

Porto striker Hulk, who has been linked with Chelsea and Barcelona, is worth the value of his £83million release clause, according to his agent.

Teodoro Fonseca revealed earlier this month that the Brazil international is keen on being reunited with former Porto coach Andre Villas-Boas at Stamford Bridge following reports linking the 25-year-old with a move to west London.

But Chelsea could face competition from Barcelona, with La Gazzetta dello Sport reporting at the weekend that coach Pep Guardiola, who is yet to commit his future to the reigning Spanish and European champions beyond the end of the current campaign, has told the club's hierarchy that he will sign a new contract at Camp Nou if he is given the funds to launch a bid for the forward.

Porto president Pinto da Costa insisted at the weekend that the club will not lower their price, and Fonseca believes his client is worth the value of his buy-out clause.

He told Radio Renascenca: "Hulk is one of the best players in the world and he is being followed by big clubs in Europe.

"€100million is not such a high figure. Every European club knows that the money spent on him would be compensated by his talent.

"A Chinese club is already paying £8.4m per annum to an athlete and some Russian clubs are already paying £16.8m."

Paris Saint-Germain and Anzhi Makhachkala are also interested in the former Tokyo Verdy forward.
