Aside from a 4-1 defeat at Leicester, Watford have looked formidable in the Championship this season and are now six points clear of second-placed Bristol City after a 1-0 win against Hull on Saturday. The bookmakers reacted by shortening the Hornets to 9/4 (bet365) to win the league and make an immediate return to the Premier League under Aidy Bothroyd.
Charlton are also keen to bounce back to the top flight at the first time of asking, although they lost 2-0 at Wolves at the weekend and are now 6/1 (William Hill) to win the title under Alan Pardew. Too many draws are costing the Addicks right now, while West Brom continue to suffer on the road and are 7/1 (bet direct) to avoid the lottery of the play-offs again and claim top spot.
It currently looks like a four-horse race in the Championship, with Wolves a 7/1 chance (Ladbrokes). Next in the betting come Southampton (22/1 bet direct), with Bryan Robson's Sheffield United now a 50/1 chance (Ladbrokes) after yet another disappointing result left them in the bottom reaches of the league.
