Manchester City host Liverpool and Crystal Palace take on Cardiff City this week in the semi finals of the 2011-12 Carling Cup.

Watch and bet on the Carling Cup semi final live at Unibet>livestreaming>football.

It’s been a mixed past 7 days for Manchester City. First they beat Liverpool 3-0 and watched local rivals Manchester United lose 3-0 to Newcastle, to extend their Premier League lead to 3 points. Then on Sunday they got knocked out of the FA Cup at home to Manchester United 3-2, after being down to 10 men for most of the match and losing 3-0 at half time.

So what will Wednesday night bring for the Sky Blues?! It is the semi-final first leg of the Carling Cup and a chance for the first silverware of the season as Manchester City take on Liverpool once again! Unibet will be streaming the match live so you can watch and bet on all the action from this top match as well as on the Tuesday night semi-final first leg between Crystal Palace and Cardiff!

OK so it may often be a competition for the kids but at this stage of the Cup any manager not taking seriously the prospect of lifting a trophy at Wembley may be tempted to start putting out a stronger line up. For Manchester City who are 2.00 to win, they will relish the prospect of beating Liverpool for the second time in 8 days whilst The Reds will be looking for revenge and are 3.75 to do so. In a tight match the draw is 3.30 and given the last 15 matches between the teams have ended in 7 draws when played at City’s home ground this result is not out of the question.

Liverpool have been a mixed bag this season. Since October they have beaten Chelsea away twice, drawn against Manchester united and picked up a point against Manchester City in the League. However they have also failed to pick up all 3 points against, Blackburn, Wigan, Swansea and Fulham. Currently 6th in the Premier League they could potentially miss out on European Football altogether next season and so will be keen to lift the Carling cup to guarantee themselves in the Europa League.

Erik Bäcklund, Head of Unibet Sportsbook told Bettingpro:

“Liverpool were awful on their last trip to the Etihad Stadium, but with the return of Steven Gerrard and Manchester City missing the Toure brothers and Vincent Kompany it will be a tougher test for The Blues this time around”

“Historically, this trophy (quite literally!) has Liverpool’s name written all over it! They have won it 7 times and are 2.75 to do so once again. Manchester City on the other hand have only won it twice, in 1970 and 1976 but are hot favourites at 1.80 to do so again. The other semi-finalists Cardiff City and Crystal Palace are 10.00 and 13.00 respectively to cause a big upset on finals day!”

Whatever the result of the all Premier League clash there is a guaranteed underdog at Wembley with Crystal Palace 2.70 to beat Cardiff in the first leg at home to Cardiff at 2.55. Both matches are live to watch and bet on at Unibet, as will both second leg matches and of course the Carling Cup final at Wembley on Sunday 26th February.
