Manchester City beat Arsenal 1-0 at the Emirates to seal their place in the last four of the Carling Cup.

Manchester City are now a best price of 7/4 at William Hill to win the 2011-12 Carling Cup after beating Arsenal 1-0 in the quarter finals of the competition on Tuesday evening. The Citizens sealed the victory thanks to an 84th minute goal from Sergio Aguero but the match was, in truth, something of a let down, with both managers making 10 changes to their starting line ups.

The victory does, however, mean that City retain hopes, however slim, of an historic quadruple and manager Roberto Mancini declared that his squad were ready for a "busy" Christmas.

"December and January are going to be very busy," said Mancini. "But it's good, we have a chance every few days to win."

Liverpool, who drew with City on Sunday, won 2-0 against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Tuesday and the Reds are now 9/4 at Victor Chandler to win the Carling Cup, with Cardiff City, who also booked their place in the last four of the competition after beating Blackburn Rovers 2-0, the 16/1 outsiders at bet365. Manchester United, who are 2/1 at Sky Bet, play Crystal Palace in the fourth quarter final on Wednesday evening.
