Cardiff City have accepted a £5 million bid from Birmingham City to sign defender Roger Johnson.

Peter Ridsdale, Cardiff chairman, said that the Championship club would sell Johnson for £5m providing the deal was structured to their satisfaction.

"We have come to a financial agreement with Birmingham City Football Club for the permanent transfer of Roger Johnson." read a Cardiff statement.

"Roger has now been given permission to talk to the Premiership side."

The transfer will mark a considerable profit for Cardiff who signed the influential defender for £250,000 from Wycombe in 2006.

Premier League side Birmingham have had two previous bids for Cardiff's Johnson rejected.
