Brazil will once again field an experimental side for Monday's friendly match with Egypt in Doha.

It was hardly vintage stuff from Brazil on Thursday, when they beat Gabon 2-0 in Libreville, but goals from Napoli midfielder Hernanes and Tottenham Hotspur's Sandro gave Mano Menezes's side an efficient victory and they will look for something similar when they face Egypt on Monday evening.

The Selecao has been depleted by the absence of home based players, meaning that the likes of Neymar, Ronaldinho, Fred and Ganso are all missing but that simply makes the exclusion of Kaka, Jadson, Robinho and Ramires, who all offer creativity and a goal threat from midfield, all the more bizarre. Menezes is known as a cautious manager but friendlies against Gabon and Egypt should be a time for allowing players to express themselves and impress the coaching staff, not an opportunity to gain stoic 1-0 or 2-0 victories.

FC Porto striker Hulk is, in fact, the only recognised goalscorer in the Brazil squad and while Fernandinho and Willian are talented, they are hugely wasteful and lack real cutting edge. This has been evident in Shakhtar Donetsk's Champions League matches this season and the feeling is that neither is quite good enough to thrive on the biggest stage.

Brazil are just 1/3 at Paddy Power to beat Egypt on Monday but backing a side containing so many journeyman players (Sandro, Hernanes and Lucas Leiva are all likely to start in Doha) isn't really advisable. It is certainly a mistake to assume that the Samba Boys will crush their opponents and, therefore, odds on quotes that Brazil win by two or more goals look way too short.

Egypt lost 3-1 to England at Wembley recently but their other results have been fairly good. They beat Australia 3-0 in Cairo and have claimed good wins over Ghana, Algeria and Cameroon this year. Former USA manager Bob Bradley will see Thursday's match with Brazil as a perfect opportunity to test his side against one of the world's elite, ahead of January's African Nations Cup and it wouldn't be a huge shock if they took something from the game.

It is 8/1 at Paddy Power that Egypt win in Doha but it may be better to side with the draw, as Brazil under Menezes have been very tough to break down. It is 13/1 at Unibet that the match finishes 0-0 and it may not seem right to back a goal-less draw when Brazil are involved but that price is good value. Take that, along with 1-1, at 8/1 with Paddy Power, to get the best odds on a tie.

Recommendations

Correct Score - Brazil 0 Egypt 0 (13/1, Unibet)
Correct Score - Brazil 1 Egypt 1 (8/1, Paddy Power)
