Bayern Munich v Manchester City Traders Tips

Bayern Munich are a strong force in the Allianz Arena

Bayern Munich and Manchester City could end up cancelling each other out in the Allianz Arena this evening.

Match Odds

Jupp Heynckes' side go into the game on a run of nine straight wins in all competitions, including their impressive 2-0 victory at Villarreal in their opening Group A game. The Germans also have an excellent home record against English opposition, their only defeat coming against Norwich City in 1993-94. Bayern's Champions League home record is superb, too: they've won eight of their last nine fixtures.

Those impressive stats justify Bayern's betfair price of 2.0. Manchester City are 4.0, with the draw 3.5.

Over / Under 2.5 Goals

One of the most interesting features of Bayern's performances so far this season has been how defensively resolute they are. The Bundesliga is Europe's highest-scoring major league, but under Heynckes the German have produced some impressive defensive performances. Only five of 11 games in all competitions have had under 2.5 goals, but this game ought to be closer owing to the quality of the opposition, so under 2.5 goals looks a decent bet.

City's games have been relatively high-scoring, but away from home against the group favourites, I expect Roberto Mancini to take a more cautious approach than he has in the Premier League. It's worth noting City's opening Group A match, against Napoli, finished 1-1.

I was surprised to find unders is the underdog at [2.12]. I'm far happier backing unders at odds-against than overs at 1.85 on betfair.

Both teams to Score?

An alternative to backing under 2.5 goals is to back 'No' in the Both teams to score? market. Bayern have kept clean sheets in 10 of their 11 games this season, including in that opening Champions League group-stage win against Villarreal. City have kept clean sheets in only four of nine games, although that includes their last two. 'No' in this market looks a touch big at 2.28.

Best Bet: Under 2.5 goals @ 2.12.
Other Recommended Bet: 'No' in Both Teams to Score? market @ 2.28.
